While tough news for some, this might just be the greatest Christmas gift of all for other players who just want to relive collecting all of The Witcher 3's trophies again from start to finish. While you can carry over your Witcher 3 save file from PS4 to PS5, this will not automatically pop those PS5 trophies, so tough luck if you were looking for an easy platinum just in time for Christmas. The update comes via developer CD Projekt Red's Marcin Momot on Twitter, who confirmed that The Witcher 3's trophies will not auto-unlock for PS4 players. Unfortunately for returning players, there's one issue - you'll have to earn all of The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt trophies all over again on PlayStation 5. One of the absolute best PS4 games of all time is finally in the running to become one of the best PS5 games now that the free Witcher 3 PS5 upgrade and its accompanying trophy list have finally arrived.
Prepare to earn those trophies all over again.
